Device Questions

How often should the Garmin device be charged?

The vívosmart 4 has a battery life of up to a week, but we recommend you advise your subject to charge the device every 4-5 days. To charge, connect the charging clip to the device (the same one used in setup) and plug in to a power source. The device should fully charge in about an hour.

What kind of metrics does the Garmin vívosmart 4 track?

The vívosmart 4 contains multiple sensors capable of tracking metrics such as heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep quality, and step count. Ensure your subject is wearing the device as often as possible.

Is the device waterproof?

Your subject’s device is water resistant up to a depth of 50 meters, meaning the subject can comfortably bathe, shower, and even swim while wearing.

How long does it take to fully set up my subject’s Garmin vívosmart 4?

The time to fully set up the subject’s Garmin device and connect with the appropriate software takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes.

What if my subject isn’t complying with wearing the device?

When your subject goes three days without transmitting data to Litmus or BMS, you will be contacted by the clinical study supervisor. Talk with your subject and ensure they are wearing the device at all times. If they are experiencing discomfort, a new device with a larger band size can be ordered.

My subject is having problems with the Garmin vívosmart 4 and/or cell phone.

If your subject is having technical issues with either the provided Garmin device or cell phone, please see the troubleshooting guide provided in your paperwork.

Litmus Health Questions

What if my subject has a question for Litmus Health?

Subjects should never directly contact Litmus Health. Litmus Health is unable to respond directly to subjects according to the study protocol around PHI. All questions should be directed towards RTI instead, and any questions that cannot be answered by the troubleshooting guide should be directed towards RTI.

If you are an employee or partner of RTI, and need technical assistance from Litmus Health, please contact: support@litmushealth.com.

What is the role of Litmus Health in this study?

Litmus Health will work alongside BMS and its partners for this study to incorporate real world data into the study. We provision the Garmin devices to RTI, and supply the software that captures and manages datas collected from the devices.

App Questions

My subjects aren’t very good with technology. Will they have to use the Litmus app often?

After initial set-up, your subjects should never have to use the Litmus Garmin Bridge app, though it must remain installed on their phone(s) in order to collect data from the Garmin device.

Barring occasional technical issues with bluetooth pairing, they shouldn’t have to interact with the app for the duration of the study.

Additional Study Questions

Can I pair all my devices at the same time to save time?

When pairing Garmin devices to the Garmin Bridge App, do NOT mass pair devices. It is critical devices are paired one at a time, as the given subject ID must pair to the correct Garmin device ID.

I have subjects in Cohort 3. What makes this cohort different?

If you are overseeing Cohort 3, your participants will have two separate subject IDs—one for their iPhone and one for their iPod touch. Please contact Signant Health if your patient has any issues with his or her iPod touch.
