What is Litmus Health?


Litmus Health is a company that specializes in data collection from wearable devices for clinical research. They have partnered with the UChicago IBD Study to help run the Fitbit tracking program. The Litmus Study Companion is the app that the researchers are using to securely collect information relevant to the trial from you and your Fitbit.


I don’t like wearing the Fitbit. Can I take it off?


The Fitbit must be worn as described in the user guide.

I accidentally deleted the Litmus Health Study Companion App, what do I do?


Don’t worry! You can always re-download the app from http://www.LitmusHealth.com/iOS or http://www.LitmusHealth.com/Android. You can also find it in your App Store or Google Play Store by searching “Litmus Health.”


Once you’ve downloaded the app, just log in with the same username and password you used the first time.


I forgot my password. How do I change my username and/or password?


Please email support@litmushealth.com for instructions to set a new username and password for your account.


I lost or damaged my Fitbit. What should I do?


Please contact Dr. Rubin’s office to determine if a replacement can be provided to you.

I got a new phone and don’t have the Litmus Study Companion App anymore. What should I do?

Do I need to do anything with the Fitbit data?


The data we collect comes from the Litmus Study Companion App, which is connected to your Fitbit account. You can use your Fitbit account as you wish, provided that you don’t change the settings on the account from those described in the “Getting Started Guide.“


Is my information secure?


Yes. Your information is stored and transmitted securely by Litmus Health. Please see the Litmus Health Privacy Policy for more information. If you have questions about your research data, please contact the UChicago study team or Litmus Health at support@litmushealth.com.


Can I keep the Fitbit when the study is over?


When the study is complete or you withdraw, you will be asked to return the Fitbit at your next clinic visit.
